Avon Barrier are specialists in HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation)  and traffic control systems, today we are global exporters of impact tested Vehicle Security Barriers (VSB) as defined by the UK’s Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI). Testing of our road blockers, traffic control barriers, bollards and gates is rigorous and has included impact testing to the internationally recognised standards PAS 68, IWA 14-1 & ASTM 2656.

Avon Barrier was originally formed by a group of engineers over 25 years ago, all of whom had considerable experience in the design and development of vehicle control systems.  In our formative years, parking and security barrier systems were our core products, however with the rise in terrorism in the 1990’s we realised that higher levels of security were required and assurances that our barrier and blocking systems could withstand or mitigate the damage of a possible hostile vehicle attack. This lead to our first road blocker physical impact test in 2004, which was carried out in conjunction with the UK Government, these first physical tests using a large vehicles (trucks) driven at speed into a blocking system led to the formation of PAS 68, which is a British Standards Institute, Publicly Available Specification.
